Comparing News Bulletins

The radio stations I analysed did contain some of the same news stories implying that they were important news. The news editors of each station had chosen stories on the basis of news values and ones that still appeal to their target audience.

The stories on BBC Radio 2 were more detailed and political than those on the other radios such as Kerrang!. This is possibly because of the listeners of BBC Radio 2 are likely to be older people. For example the news story about Health Service leaders worry over amount being paid out in negligence claims, younger audiences are unlikely to understand what this means and not be as interested in it.

My expectations of the different radio stations having the some of the same stories was demonstrated as I ensured that I listened to news bulletins from the same day and time.

To ensure this is correct I am going to double check by listening to 2 different radio stations news bulletins to see if they have some of the same stories regardless of their audiences. I am going to listen to TalkSPORT and Heat Radio.
